Who's that Chick?

Kate fell in love with trad jazz in the living room of her parents house. In the corner, was a beautiful old victrola that she'd wind up for hours on end, cherishing the sound from the heavy wax relics of an era she felt oddly connected to. That being said, this was Brooklyn in the 80's so when the victrola wasn't available, Cyndi Lauper, Blondie and Prince also figured prominently in her musical education. It was from this kitchen sink of musical styles that a classic glamour girl with pipes for days and a penchant for mixing things up was born.

Fast forward a couple of years and after cutting her teeth studying Musical Theater at NYU - Tisch School of the Arts, Ms. Curran wanted to create her own musical outlet that would allow her to meld her theatrical training with her love of trad jazz but still leave some wiggle room for the unexpected. In 2006, Lady Luck and the Suicide Kings was born. A 7 piece jump swing outfit, LLSK mixes classic swing with modern material to create a unique, ear catching sound that brings audiences from all eras to their feet. Lady Luck and the Suicide Kings has graced NYC club stages like Swing 46, Jack's Joint and Connelly's as well Washington DC venues, including the Carlyle Club, The Spanish Ballroom at Glen Echo Park and the Kennedy Center's Milenium Stage.

In 2011, a chance opportunity lead Kate to a 3 year adventure in Amsterdam, NL. She is now happily back on American soil and thrilled to be embarking on yet another musical adventure with Kate Curran and the Rogue's Gallery.
